Antonio Citterio

Antonio Citterio
He was born in Meda in 1950. He opened his own design studio in 1972 and graduated in architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1975. Between 1987 and 1996 he teamed up with Terry Dwan, with whom he worked on constructions in Europe and Japan. In 1999 he set up Antonio Citterio and Partners with Patricia Viel.
The typologies produced include: urban planning, residential and business complees, industrial plants, the conservative refurbishment of public buildings, planning of work spaces, offices, showrooms, hotels. The studio is also active in the business communications sector and creates coordinated image projects and installations. Recent projects include: the Ermenegildo Zegna group’s new corporate building in Milan; the Bulgari Hotels in Milan and Bali; offices and company pre-school in Verona for the pharmaceutical multinational GlaxoSmithKline, a project to develop Cascina Merlata in Milan; residentials buildings in Milan, Hong Kong and Singapore; Milan’s Cultural Center project, the conversion of Milan’s former Palazzo delle Poste into an important center to the services sector; installation and space design for the Design Museum at the Triennale in Milan. At the present time, in the industrial design sector, Antonio Citterio is collaborating with Italian and foreign companies such as Ansorg, Arclinea, Axor-Hansgrohe, Aubrilam, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Fusital, Guzzini, Iittala, Inda, Kartell, Maxalto, Sanitec Group Pozzi-Ginori, Simon Urmet, Technogym, Tre Più, Vitra. In 2008 he was honored as a Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufacturers & Commerce in London, and he became a member of the Italian Design Council set up by the Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities. In 2009 Antonio Citterio and Partners won the “US Award 2009: Workplace, Quality and Innovation,” sponsored by the magazine US Ufficiostile, for the Ermenegildo Zegna corporate building in Milan.
